I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel.  Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind).  So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me?  Pantser?  I think?  But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid.  And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly.  And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr
SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.
A lot of people have asked me how it's going, when it will be published and stuff. I really appreciate getting asked these things because it shows that people are actually interested in my writings, and that it just such a great feeling :aww:
I've got two news for you guys today though: one bad news and one good news. Let's start with the bad news.

I've been keeping a low profile lately due to being on my internship and generally not having time to do anything on here, but a couple of articles have recently been brought to my attention which I recommend you read if you have a chance:

I totally disagree with dA's stand point on the whole copying issue and I could go on massive rant as to why, but I'm not going to. I am however considering shifting my attention to other art communities that seem to promote a better ethic in regards to issues like this. I have no plans as yet to completely remove my gallery, although I may be removing my prints (something I've been thinking about doing for a long while - as there are better opportunities and options on other sites)

One site I am particularly fond of is redbubble.com which to my absolute joy, seems to uphold a better standard than dA, and is not totally bogged down with Anime and Furries, I don't mean to cause offence to those who appreciate that kind of art, but it's just not my kind of thing. I'm sorry to hear that a number of great artists whose work I've been following on here are leaving because of this complete lack of respect from dA, and they will be sorely missed - but I'm not bound to this site, and although it's done so much for my artwork and my appreciation of art in general I may be inclined to move to better places if needs be.

Well that is something that I didn't have any inkling of knowledge about...I'm glad you brought it to my attention. To be honest I think i'll be done with the online galleries for a little while and perhaps just try and focus on my own art for a bit, once I have the opportunity. Perhaps after when I am creating my own websites I might put my own stuff up. Otherwise, I think I'll be leaving DA as well. More or less because of lack of use as much as much as the infiltration of craptacular art and what is pretty much pornographic images. Who can really call art what it is anymore, there is too many variables these days.

I don't know whether I'll fully leave as there is still so much good art on here, and the favourites are a good way of keeping track of inspiring stuff, but I may be focusing my attention elsewhere when I have the time.

anyway, I feel the same. I haven't renewed my account here, and I barely post anything anymore. a couple of years back i would be posting stuff on a daily basis, but my love for this site has slowly died. there are just no standards... the website is saturated with anything, even porn. i like places with a submission system, where submissions go through a standard revisions.

it has always been a social place for me, like my "artsy facebook", because I would never send a client of mine to look at my gallery here. im pretty sure the site is not intended for that regardless, if not, it wouldn't have a journal stuck right next to your gallery button... hehe.

Anyway, keep in touch!

yes, I really like behance and recently made an account there. I certainly like looking for inspiration here, but I think from now on I'll be focusing elsewhere on more professional looking sites.

Have you read my latest journal? It's a little long but I've worked hard on researching, I think you will be pleased to know that it's highly illegal to publicise traced works, it doesn't come under the Fair Use act and it musn't be done without prior permission by the original artist.

The fact that this website is allowing it to go ahead, despite the objection of 80% of the community, despite the laws, with absolutely no protection for the artists prior to being ripped and with complete disregard to artistic values is appalling. It's sending the wrong message about creation and talent.

I'm moving to Art Limited so I can showcase my photography in a more professional fashion.

Do you have an email address to which I could send you a set of questions for our interview on Cat On The Wall? I haven't forgotten about it but life's been a bitch in the last six months.
